Everything You Always Wanted To Know
Joshua Smith
Founder and Editor at Cruising Freedom
This is the definitive guide on Sailboat Story for 2023.
Over the last several years, I have spent many hours watching and researching everything I could about Sailboat Story to learn more about their story.
(Yes, I really am *that* obsessed with Ben, Tambi and Molly 😃)
If you wanted to know:
➜ How Sailboat Story afforded their boat
➜ How they make their money today
➜ What boat do they have and its upgrades
➜ Their real names and ages
➜ Ways they do homeschooling while cruising
Then you’ve definitely come to the right place.
Before we start, a quick introduction from me…
The Cruising Freedom Author
Ahoy, Matey! I’m Joshua from Australia.
I’ve built the perfect business to sail the world.
A business model which can allow me to:
➜ Own a catamaran debt-free
➜ Go for weeks without WIFI
➜ Create semi-passive income
➜ Inspire others to dream big
But more on that later… 🙂
Sailboat Story FAQs (January 2023)

Location
They are in the United States and aren’t sailing anytime soon, but they are still uploading videos:
Past Cruising
Most of their cruising has been in The Bahamas, the Caribbean and the United States.
Affording It
Ben and Tambi simply worked hard and were diligent with their budget. Through this process, they were able to buy their yacht for cash and had a small amount of income to keep sailing.
Net Worth
Sailboat Story has a net worth of $270,000.
Making Loot
Sailboat Story makes $4,100/month on YouTube.
But how exactly?
➜ They allow YouTube to play ads on their videos
➜ There are Amazon links in their video description
➜ Their Patreon subscribers and PayPal donations
➜ You can also purchase their Sailboat Story merch
Oddly enough, they don’t have their own website.
Collaborations
Apart from some videos with friends and family, I haven’t seen them with any other YouTubers.
If you’re seeking a very similar channel, then Sailing Britican also has a solo daughter on board.
Big Moments
They haven’t really had any bad experiences in their 7 years on YouTube, apart from needing to be saved from a towboat. They haven’t drawn any criticism or drama from the cruising community either as they’re so down to earth.
Future Plans
This current boat project will take them around 6 months to complete. After this time, they hope to head toward the South Pacific.
Key Takeaways
What can we learn from this wonderful family?
➜ Go for an affordable boat
➜ Be willing to learn new things
➜ Homeschooling is totally OK
➜ The world is their classroom
And of course, start planning your future today.
Conclusion
I have really enjoyed watching Sailboat Story on YouTube. They’re fun, informative and always find a way through their problems.
I’m hoping their journey continues for years to come!
