Everything You Always Wanted To Know

Joshua Smith

Founder and Editor at Cruising Freedom

This is the definitive guide on Sailing Sunday for 2023.

Over the last 2 years, I have spent so many hours watching Sailing Sunday so I could learn more about their sailing story and cruising adventures.

(Yes, I really am *that* obsessed with Ryan and Brittni 😃 my fellow Australian sailors!)

If you wanted to know:

➜ How Sailing Sunday afforded their boat

➜ How they make their money today

➜ What boat do they have and its upgrades

➜ Who is Brittni and if Finn was ever found

➜ How you can start crossing oceans

Then you’ve definitely come to the right place.

Before we start, a quick introduction from me…

The Cruising Freedom Author

Ahoy, Matey! I’m Joshua from Australia.

I’ve built the perfect business to sail the world.

A business model which can allow me to:

➜ Own a catamaran debt-free

➜ Go for weeks without WIFI

➜ Create semi-passive income

➜ Inspire others to dream big

But more on that later… 🙂

Sailing Sunday FAQs (April 2023)

Boat Name

S/V Sunday

Crew Members

Brittni Moffatt (age 35) from Canada

Ryan Weepers (age 37) from Australia

They have known each other for 17 years and have been together for much of that time, having initially met in Canada.

Their dog Jackson is a German Shepherd. They like cruising and use it as a base station to rescue animals along the way, for which they have saved hundreds so far.

The Boat

The crew from ailing Sunday has a Beneteau Oceanis 46

Upgrades

Together, they have upgraded their yacht with:

➜ Their home-built Watermaker

➜ Em-Trak AIS and VHF radio

➜ Dinghy with outboard

➜ Spearfishing equipment

Location

Sailing Sunday is currently in the Grenadines.

They have actually been here for a while.

Past Cruising

They have sailed in the Atlantic, Mediterranean, and Caribbean.

Affording It

Did they come from rich parents? Not really. They worked hard for several years and without kids, were able to save up enough for their boat.

Net Worth

Sailing Sunday has a net worth of $270,000 Australian dollars.

Making Loot

They make $5,900/month on YouTube through:

➜ Gaining more Patreon subscribers

➜ Running ads on their YouTube channel

➜ Selling their own merchandise

➜ Occasional brand sponsorships

Most of their income doesn’t go into their own pocket and instead is used for charity work and rescuing more pups along the way.

Unlike most other cruising YouTubers, you’ll feel more comfortable supporting these creators. Check out @finns_friends_ on Instagram to see some of the animals they have rescued along the way.

Collaborations

Have you seen them on any other channels? I haven’t yet but if you have seen them featured elsewhere, please let me know and I can update this article about Sailing Sunday.

Big Moments

During their epic journey to support animals, they have encountered:

➜ Struggling through monster Atlantic waves

➜ Practicing a Man Overboard drill

➜ Having their dinghy stolen in Mindelo

➜ Getting refused entry after sailing to Malta and Turkey

➜ Brittni got injured while sailing

➜ They saved some homeless puppies on the beach

The most devastating moment was when Finn their cat went missing early last year. He jumped off the boat at the marina and has never been seen since. This left a hole in their heart, as well in the hearts of their loyal fans.

Future Plans

Where to next? It’s likely that they’ll be finishing this season in the Caribbean and then heading to the South Pacific in 2023.

Key Takeaways

What can we learn from this heart-driven couple?

➜ Turn your cruising into a mission

➜ Don’t be afraid to take your pets

➜ Keep your boat as simple as possible

➜ Be resourceful and be prepared

And don’t let your years slip away!

Conclusion

On their laptop, they have a saying:

SAIL NOW, WORK LATER

…and I absolutely agree!
