Everything You Always Wanted To Know

Joshua Smith

Founder and Editor at Cruising Freedom

This is the definitive guide on Sailing Zephyr for 2023.

Over the last 2 years, I have spent 57 hours watching and researching everything I could about Sailing Zephyr to learn more about their story.

(Yes, I really am *that* obsessed with James and Nats 😃)

If you wanted to know:

➜ How Sailing Zephyr afforded their boat

➜ How they make their money today

➜ What boat do they have and its upgrades

➜ If they offer any additional footage

➜ What are their ages and income streams

Then you’ve definitely come to the right place.

Before we start, a quick introduction from me…

The Cruising Freedom Author

Ahoy, Matey! I’m Joshua from Australia.

I’ve built the perfect business to sail the world.

A business model which can allow me to:

➜ Own a catamaran debt-free

➜ Go for weeks without WIFI

➜ Create semi-passive income

➜ Inspire others to dream big

But more on that later… 🙂

Sailing Zephyr FAQs (January 2023)

Boat Name

Zephyr II

Crew Members

James (age 32) who is from Australia but he has an American accent.

Natalie (age 31) also known as Nats who is from the UK, but migrated to Australia where she then met James several years ago.

I could not find their last names.

The Boat

Sailing Zephyr owns a 2010 Beneteau Oceanis 43.

This is the same boat that Riley had from Sailing La Vagabonde.

Upgrades

They have done minimal upgrades as their yacht was ready-to-go when they bought it.

Location

According to Instagram, they are in Florida but may head back to the Bahamas.

Past Cruising

They have focused on sailing around the Mediterranean and Caribbean.

Affording It

James and Nats worked hard for several years to finally buy their Beneteau for $125,000.

Net Worth

Sailing Zephyr has a net worth of $450,000. This is based on their boat valuation, business income and investments.

Making Loot

They make $3,700/month through:

➜ Allowing ads on their channel

➜ Patreon and PayPal donations

➜ Amazon affiliate links

Collaborations

I haven’t seen them hanging out with other YouTubers apart from their personal friends. They did hang out with David Shih at the Annapolis Boat Show who happens to be a good friend of mine now too!

Big Moments

Things haven’t been easy in their journey, and moments include:

➜ A powerboat crashed into them in the Bahamas

➜ They came across a sinking boat in Spain

➜ They sought help from a cargo ship while sailing

Their scariest encounter was this beaching incident:

Lesson learned. Always check your tides!

Future Plans

Where to next? They are planning to sail around the United States before embarking on the South Pacific.

Key Takeaways

What can we learn from this wonderful couple?

➜ Doing it all while you’re young

➜ Be willing to do your boat work

➜ Work through the challenges

➜ Find a very supportive partner

And of course, make the most of today!

Conclusion

I have come to really enjoy Sailing Zephyr’s channel. They might be smaller as content creators, but their episodes are well worth watching.

Now that they’re in the United States, I can’t wait to see what’s next!
