Everything You Always Wanted To Know

Joshua Smith

Founder and Editor at Cruising Freedom

This is the definitive guide on Teulu Tribe for 2023.

As a fan of their YouTube channel, I’ve become obsessed with their content!

(And a little obsessed with Becka too 😃 in a good way…)

If you wanted to know:

➜ How Teulu Tribe afforded their boat

➜ How much they make on YouTube today

➜ What boat do they have and its upgrades

➜ How much their boat cost

➜ Ways you can start building online

Then you’ve definitely come to the right place.

Before we start, a quick introduction from me…

The Cruising Freedom Author

Ahoy, Matey! I’m Joshua from Australia.

I’ve built the perfect business to sail the world.

A business model which can allow me to:

➜ Own a catamaran debt-free

➜ Go for weeks without WIFI

➜ Create semi-passive income

➜ Inspire others to dream big

But more on that later… 🙂

Teulu Tribe FAQs (April 2023)

Boat Name

S/V Teulu

Crew Members

Zach (age 25)

Becka (age 24)

They’re fresh out of university and skipped the corporate career for a life on the high seas!

Zach is Becka’s first major relationship. They met in 2018 at Swansea University. I’m not sure if they’re engaged but I’ve noticed Becka wearing a ring in numerous videos.

The Boat

Teulu Tribe owns a 1987 Colvic Victor 40ft Ketch which cost them £38,000 in 2020. They paid 100% cash through 5-years of savings.

Upgrades

Surprisingly, they haven’t really needed to upgrade much but have done some repairs along the way.

Location

They’re constantly on the move! Currently, they’re in Antigua.

Past Cruising

They sailed from the UK.

Affording It

Zach and Becka hustled hard and sold their soul. Instead of a mortgage on their boat, they worked long hours

Net Worth

Young people are certainly becoming wealthy on YouTube…

As of 2023, Teulu Tribe has a net worth of £170,000.

This is based on the value of their boat, equipment and online business.

Making Loot

These two have done a fine job of monetizing their channel.

I estimate Teulu Tribe makes £4,700/month with their highly engaging YouTube videos.

They do this through:

➜ Brand sponsorships such as Better Help

➜ Their loyal Patreon subscribers

➜ Amazon affiliate links

➜ Ads on their videos (given their premium marine audience, advertisers pay well)

And so, Zach and Becka can continue sailing indefinitely. They aren’t rich but they don’t need conventional jobs either!

Collaborations

I haven’t seen them do any collabs as yet. They’re small-time creators but do have a big-enough audience to hang out with the well-known creators in this space!

Big Moments

[Best and Worst Moments in Cruising]

➜ Attempted theft on their boat

➜ Almost being hit by a ship

➜ Having their propeller seize up

➜ Re-rigging their mast

➜ Helping out other cruisers who were dragging anchor

And dealing with some relationship emotions along teh way.

Future Plans

Where to next? Teulu is planning to discover warmer climates with their boat.

But the biggest question is: Will Zach pop the question?!

Key Takeaways

What can we learn from this ambitious young couple?

➜ Use the resources you have available

➜ Learn basic skills to go cruising

➜ Open your mind to opportunities online

➜ You don’t need a million-dollar boat

And be prepared to work hard to earn your freedom, just like Teulu Tribe.

Conclusion

Becka and Zach have brought something fresh to the community of YouTube cruisers. They remind me a ton of Sailing Yacht Florence.

Teulu are seeking to sail for the next 5+ years and I can’t wait to see the storm unfold!
