Everything You Always Wanted To Know

Joshua Smith

Founder and Editor at Cruising Freedom

This is the definitive guide on Sailing Nahao for 2023.

Over the last few years, I have spent 75 hours watching and researching everything I could about Sailing Nahao as their channel is so captivating.

Because I really am *that* obsessed with Ben and Ashley!

If you want to know:

➔ How Ben and Ashley afforded their boat

➔ How they make their money today

➔ What boat do they have and its upgrades

➔ How you can start crossing oceans

Then you’ve definitely come to the right place.

Many consider this site to be the Wikipedia of the YouTube cruising community.

Ashley Stobbart (age 42)

Willa Stobbart (age 4)

Their son Bodhi Stobbart (age 2)

The Boat

Nahao is a 2005 Lagoon 410.

This often isn’t consider a blue water cruising catamaran as it’s best for the charter market.

And yet, Ben and Ashley have made it work for their cruising adventures.

Fellow YouTuber David Shih has a similar boat and is planning a world expedition with his young family too!

Upgrades

Nahao has had many upgrades:

➔ A Code Zero and Main Sail

➔ 1200w of solar panels + D400 mount

➔ 3000W Victron inverter

➔ Iridium Go + Antenna

➔ Badelf GPS puck + iPad for navigation

➔ New Dacron Sailbag which Ashley made herself

➔ New Hardtop custom-made by Just Catamarans

➔ 10ft Inflatable Dingy with 15hp outboard

This video explains some of their favorite gear:

Location

They are in Africa:

Past Cruising

Nahao has been sailed extensively to:

➔ North America

➔ Venezuela

➔ The Panama Canal

➔ Columbia

➔ The South Pacific (Coconut Milk Run)

➔ New Zealand

➔ Papua New Guinea

➔ Indonesia

Affording It

After the loss of Ashley’s father, Ben and Ashley worked hard, invested and sacrificed plenty for 7 years to afford their catamaran. The boat cost approximately $320,000 and required additional work to be cruiser-ready.

Net Worth

YouTube sailing channels are often multi-millionaires…

Here in 2024, Sailing Nahao has an estimated net worth of $1,900,000 USD. This is based on the value of their boat, online income and stock portfolio.

However, they hold very little available cash.

Making Loot

In 2023, Sailing Nahao makes money on YouTube with:

➔ YouTube advertising revenue

➔ Affiliate links on their website

➔ Patreon memberships (600+)

➔ Substack memberships (this is new!)

➔ Selling sailing fan merchandise

➔ Brand sponsorship with Precision Sail Loft, OceanRodeo, Steiner Optics and Brnkl

It’s estimated that Sailing Nahao makes $12,000/month which is enough to allow them to keep sailing.

They discuss how they make money in this episode:

Collaborations

Sailing Nahao hasn’t collaborated with any YouTube channels, however, they have a close connection with Sailing Zatara.

Big Moments

Sailing Nahao’s remarkable moments in cruising:

➔ A video on defending against pirate attacks

➔ Catching some seriously big fish while sailing

➔ Coming across a sinking catamaran on an Atoll

➔ Assisting with an amazing boat build in Indonesia

➔ Crashing into a rock after 4 years of cruising

➔ Being approached at sea while cruising

➔ Almost getting arrested in the Maldives

This is perhaps their scariest encounter where they were almost boarded in Seychelles:

Future Plans

Sailing Nahao are cruising Africa and will venture into Europe next year.

Key Takeaways

There is much we can learn from Ben and Ashley:

➔ Living on a catamaran is normal

➔ You can cruise and work remotely

➔ A production catamaran is still fine

➔ Affording a boat requires some sacrifice

➔ Work hard so you can live your dreams

Conclusion

In the wise words of Ben and Ashley: Never grow up.

I look forward to seeing their adventure continue with their two children too. This would be the ultimate #worldschooling experience.

Sailing Zatara: Net Worth, Catamaran Price and YouTube Earnings (2024)

Everything You Always Wanted To Know

Joshua Smith

Founder and Editor at Cruising Freedom

This is the definitive guide on Sailing Zatara for 2024.

Over the last 4ish years, I have spent 70+ hours watching and researching everything I could about everyone’s favorite YouTube sailing family.

I love their channel! Keith, Renee and their 4 cruising kids have really inspired me a ton!

And so, you’re about to discover:

➔ How Sailing Zatara afforded their boat

➔ How they make their money today

➔ What boat they have and its upgrades

➔ How you can start crossing oceans

This is going to be one incredible article!

But before we start, a quick introduction from me…

The Cruising Freedom Author

Ahoy, Matey! I’m Joshua from Australia.

I’ve built the perfect business to sail the world.

A business model which can allow me to:

➜ Own a catamaran debt-free

➜ Go for weeks without WIFI

➜ Create semi-passive income

➜ Inspire others to dream big

But more on that later… 🙂

Sailing Zatara FAQs (2024)

Boat Name

S/V Zatara

Crew Members

Keith Whitaker (age 51)

Renee Whitaker (age 47)

Anna Whitaker (age 19)

Jack Whitaker (age 18)

Finn Whitaker (age 14)

Kate Whitaker (age 13)

They have another older daughter (Tait Whitaker-Cargo, aged 26) who hasn’t sailed with the family as she is already married and with two children.

Interestingly enough, Jack Whitaker recently started his own YouTube channel, providing a unique insight into cruising as a teenager:

Jack is single but dated previously.

While Jack has his own channel, that pales in comparison to his younger brother Finn Whitaker (150,000 subscribers) who appeals to a younger audience:

And well, Finn just has better content over all! 😂

And no, Finn Whitaker does NOT have a girlfriend.

In his words “I think teenage romance is kinda stupid. You’re dating to break up basically unless you get married which is highly unlikely. So relationships don’t really work on a sailboat”

Both brothers have discussed personal finance. Neither Jack or Finn have made much money from their channels, apart from ads on their videos, but it’s probably around $700/month which is still better than most adults!

The Boat

Sailing Zatara owns a 2009 Privilege 585 Catamaran with a 4-cabin layout.

Previously they owned a Beneteau 55-foot monohull which they later sold as it was a little too small and somewhat unsuited to crossing large oceans.

Fun fact: I was kayaking past the Mooloolaba marina recently and went past their old yacht on the dock!

Upgrades

Sailing Zatara have upgraded their catamaran with:

➔ Upgraded B&G electronics

➔ New Highfield Dinghy

➔ Movie projector for the kids

Location

Sailing Zatara are in Europe after undertaking their most dangerous crossing yet as they sail along the Somali Coastline:

Past Cruising

Sailing Zatara has explored in:

➔ The United States

➔ The Caribbean

➔ The Bahamas

➔ The Marquesas and Fiji

➔ Australia and New Zealand

Their biggest crossing is the Pacific crossing making it their longest time at sea.

Affording It

Keith and Renee didn’t come from a rich family nor did they have well-paying jobs. Keith had a long-term career in the oil industry.

However, they did have some equity in their home and some of Keith’s investments paid off well, so they were able to eventually sell their house and afford their first sailboat which cost $257,000 USD.

From there, they began producing YouTube videos and with the revenue, were able to buy their 2nd sailboat for $590,000 USD a mere 2 years later.

Net Worth

YouTube cruisers are typically multi-millionaires!

My best estimate in 2024 is that:

Sailing Zatara has a net worth of $1,900,000 USD.

This is based on the value of their boat, investments and business income.

Making Loot

They make a full-time living at sea which is earned through:

➔ Amazon affiliate links under their YouTube videos

➔ PayPal and Patreon donations from their audience

➔ $10/month membership to their Facebook group

➔ Sailing Zatara ‘Let It Flow Away’ merchandise

➔ Homeschool education for other sailing families

It’s estimated that Sailing Zatara makes $17,000/month through their engaging YouTube content.

Collaborations

Sailing Zatara have featured with these other YouTube channels:

Gone With The Wynns

Sailing Ruby Rose

The Sailing Family

The Cruising Kiwis

While they haven’t met in person, the Whitaker family has a good friendship with Sailing Nahao and they met David Shih at a recent boat show.

Fun fact: David is also a friend of mine.

They have also featured numerous other smaller channels and seek out other cruising families to keep the kids entertained while home-schooling.

Big Moments

Sailing Zatara have had numerous cool moments:

➔ Coming across Lady Erel 2 stuck on a reef

➔ Being at sea for 30-days as a family of 4

➔ Having Anna leave the boat for college

➔ Keith getting into heated arguments with Australian government quarantine officials 😅

➔ Having Jack’s internet girlfriend on board

➔ Keith accidentally ran over Anna and she went to hospital

So the most dangerous that has happened…actually happened off the boat! I applaud them for avoiding the click-bait drama that other channels often create.

Future Plans

Sailing Zatara have just completed a half-circumnavigation around Australia, have left and are now adventuring in Africa and soon Europe!

Key Takeaways

We can learn from Sailing Zatara that:

➔ Teenagers can still sail globally with their parents

➔ Use the resources you have available to go sailing

➔ Don’t be afraid to change your plans on a whim

➔ Such very precious moments cannot be bought

Conclusion

Keith and Renee didn’t wait until Kate was off to college before going off cruising. Instead, they used the resources they have, invested wisely, sold their house and made their dream happen and all without the fluff.

So to the cruisers with older kids who aren’t so sure, it’s definitely possible!

Sampson Boat Co: What Happened To Pete and Cecca (2024)

Everything You Always Wanted To Know

Joshua Smith

Founder and Editor at Cruising Freedom

This is the definitive guide on Sampson Boat Co for 2024.

Over the last several years, I have spent many hours watching and researching everything I could about his boat build!

(Yes, I really am *that* obsessed with Leo’s project 😃)

If you wanted to know:

➜ How he makes money with his channel

➜ When the boat will finally be done

➜ What happened to Cecca and Pete

➜ How you can start crossing oceans

Then you’ve definitely come to the right place.

Before we start, a quick introduction from me…

Sampson Boat Co FAQs (2024)

Crew Members

Leo Sampson Goolden (age 35)

Old Crew

Pete left Sampson Boat Co some time ago to pursue new endeavors.

Girlfriend

Leo was dating Cecca for several years, but they appear to have separated in 2022. He typically keeps his private life away from YouTube, so he didn’t announce this separation.

The Boat

Tallo Ho is a 1909 Albert Strange Gaff Cutter sailing yacht.

Location

The boatyard is located in Bristol in the UK.

Affording It

How did Leo afford to take on such an ambitious project?

Well, it’s a combination of buying the boat for $1 AND having a ton of help along the way.

But most importantly, he has built an incredible business through documenting the build process.

Net Worth

As of 2024, Sampson Boat Co has a net worth of £370,000.

This is based primarily on the value of Leo’s boat and online business.

Making Loot

How does Leo afford to keep going? It’s his channel’s income basically. He makes around £7,000 per month mainly through:

➜ YouTube ads on his channel

➜ Affiliate links to products on Amazon

➜ Memberships to his Patreon account

➜ Occasional donations

It’s just enough to sustain him going forward.

Collaborations

He’s met a ton of interesting and helpful people along the way who have contributed to the rebuilding process in some way.

Future Plans

Eventually, he plans to sail around the world, but for now, he just wants to begin building out the interior.

The refitting process has taken many more years than he was expecting!

Key Takeaways

What can we learn?

➜ We all have power inside of us

➜ Dream big but work small

➜ Opportunities are everywhere

And of course, set a vision 10 years into the future!

Conclusion

I don’t think there’s a single soul on YouTube who is outdoing Leo’s ambition when it comes to boat building. He’s built a cult-like following of fellow maritime enthusiasts who can’t wait to see this project really come into fruition.

Sailing La Vagabonde: Net Worth, Boat, Crew and Elayna’s Income (2024)

Everything You Always Wanted To Know

Joshua Smith

Founder and Editor at Cruising Freedom

This is the definitive guide to Sailing La Vagabonde for 2024.

Over the last 6 years, my Youtube stats tell me that I have spent around 170 hours watching and researching everything I could about La Vagabonde because I adore their channel. 😎

Being obsessed, I’ve watched almost EVERY episode to date!

If you wanted to know:

➔ How Sailing La Vagabonde afforded all their boats

➔ How much they make on YouTube today

➔ What boat they have now and its upgrades

➔ How you can start crossing oceans

Then you’ve definitely come to the right place.

Think of this like a wiki for Sailing La Vagabonde.

Before we start, a quick introduction from me…

The Cruising Freedom Author

Ahoy, Matey! I’m Joshua from Australia.

I’ve built the perfect business to sail the world.

A business model which can allow me to:

➜ Own a catamaran debt-free

➜ Go for weeks without WIFI

➜ Create semi-passive income

La Vagabonde FAQs (2024)

Boat Name

La Vagabonde

Crew Members

Riley Whitelum (age 37) from Kimba, South Australia.

Elayna Carausu (age 34) from Perth, Western Australia.

Lenny Whitelum (age 3) who is now actively talking and swimming all by himself.

Elayna gave birth to their 2nd child, Darwin, in 2021, who is now almost 2 years old!

Riley and Elayna are NOT married, nor has Riley ever proposed to Elayna. They remain in a de facto relationship.

Boob Job

If you’re wondering if Elayna Carausu from Sailing La Vagabonde had breast enhancement surgery (fake breasts), then the answer is YES.

Riley actually confirmed it on a recent episode. He also appears to be juicing… 😲

Because, you know, they have to keep up…appearances…

The Boat

Sailing La Vagabonde’s current catamaran is a 2022 Rapido Trimaran 60 with an owner’s cabin in the starboard hull.

This is designed for serious performance and sailing beyond the wind speed.

Some say this boat isn’t ideal for family cruising with very young children, and I tend to agree.

Sailing La Vagabonde’s previous catamaran was a 2017 Outremer 45 with an owner’s cabin in the starboard hull.

Previously to this, they owned a monohull which was a 2007 Beneteau Cyclades 43. This is the original ‘La Vagabonde’, a yacht that was designed for the charter market without a dedicated owner’s cabin.

They had planned to sell the Outremer but decided against it:

In short: They’re creating Vagabonde Adventures which will become a boat charter company where you can learn to sail on their very own catamaran.

Their friend Jack, a sailing instructor, will run the business so Riley and Elayna can continue sailing as a family.

More info at: VagabondeAdventures.com

A very wise choice I must say! They will still buy the Rapido 60 for themselves.

Upgrades

Before taking ownership, Outremer had spec’d the 45 at the factory in France with:

➔ Code D and Code Zero lightwind sails (the code D is Elayna’s favorite sail)

➔ Two upright 12v fridges in the galley

➔ Retractable daggerboards (a rather expensive optional upgrade, yet highly recommended)

➔ Twin 215hp diesel inboard motors

Meanwhile, Riley and Elayna have added:

➔ Fortress Spade Anchor (they use it as a spare)

➔ 560watts of solar panels on the bimini

➔ Dessalator Freedom Cruise Water Maker

➔ Watt And Sea Hydro Generator

➔ Inflatable tender called Cunningham II with 15hp Honda outboard. Their first tender mysteriously disappeared 5 years ago as it was being towed while sailing. (Whoops!)

Location

Riley and Elayna are currently in Vietnam to assist in building their trimaran. It’s likely that they’ll spend a few months here before it’s launched.

Past Cruising

In prior years, Riley and Elayna have sailed extensively to:

➔ The Mediterranean

➔ The Bahamas

➔ United States of America

➔ The Azores

➔ Cape Verde

➔ Antigua

➔ Australia (Riley sailed as a crew of a racing team)

➔ Dominica

➔ Grenada

➔ British Virgin Islands

➔ St Lucia

➔ Venezuela

➔ Panama Canal

➔ French Polynesia

➔ Tonga

➔ New Zealand (friends boat)

➔ Mallorca

➔ Morocco

➔ Gibraltar

Affording It

They didn’t start out with an epic lifestyle and the freedom to live their dreams.

Riley worked for 4 years in the mining industry in South Australia (just like me!) and he saved $100,000, earning *just* enough to purchase his monohull before meeting Elayna.

Once their channel blew up, they were approached by various boat manufacturers, ultimately settling with Outremer.

The purchase of La Vagabonde II didn’t cost them $1,200,000 USD (the retail price of La Vagabonde’s Outremer 45), and instead, was based off their audience size and Outremer’s potential for marketing reach similar to a sponsorship deal.

(And if you’re wondering, I’ll be buying either a Seawind or an Outremer myself)

The La Vagabonde II catamaran itself, just like the original monohull, is legally owned by Riley and Elayna. Outremer simply assisted with the loan on the catamaran.

Outremer has never given a free boat to Riley and Elayna. This is the biggest false rumor on the internet which continues to haunt the couple to this day.

Net Worth

YouTubers are wealthier than we imagine, and after watching Riley and Elayna for many years, the following is my best estimation…

Right now in 2024, Sailing La Vagabonde has a net worth of $6,700,000 USD. This is based on the value of their two boats, online business and personal investments.

They have also saved around 85% of their income over the last 6 years.

Making Loot

In 2024, Sailing La Vagabonde makes money through:

➔ YouTube advertising revenue

➔ Amazon affiliate links

➔ Official La Vagabonde merch

➔ Elayna’s songs and CDs

➔ Their thousands of Patreons

➔ Brand sponsorship with Audible

So it’s clear that cruising YouTubers know how to monetize their audience well.

It’s estimated that Riley and Elayna make $27,000 per month in US dollars, or $8,200 per episode published. However, earning that much money requires 30 to 50 hours of editing to eventually publish one polished YouTube video.

Elayna recently created Vaga Bella Swim™︎ – a 100% recycled swimwear company that is definitely worth checking out.

Collaborations

Sailing La Vagabonde has collaborated with the following YouTubers:

➔ Adam Stern from Free Diving Family who held the Australian record for freediving

➔ Yosha, a previous crewmate of SV Delos, also stayed on board several years ago

Eamon & Bec who usually do Van Life.

Lost Leblanc who is a very popular travel vlogger

After all these years, I’m still waiting for a collaboration with SV Delos. 😃

Big Moments

Memorable moments in the Sailing La Vagabonde journey include:

➔ Being chased by a powerboat late at night during a potential pirate attack. This was on the original Beneteau. While Elayna hid in the aft cabin, Riley avoided the attack by throwing cans of tin food. Surprisingly (and fortunately) the strategy worked.

➔ Lenny having stopped breathing and being rushed to hospital.

➔ Sailing 22 knots in high winds without putting a reef in the main, causing Elayna to panic and the YouTube community to voice their concerns.

➔ Sailing Greta Thunberg across the North Atlantic with Lenny in tow.

➔ Freediving in the deepest hole in the world where Adam was featured.

In recent episodes, both Riley and Elayna have really struggled to manage 2 young children AND all the work that’s necessary on a boat.

Future Plans

With their Outremer 45 being listed for sale, Riley and Elayna are now working on building their 3rd boat, a Rapido 60, announced in June, 2021. It should be ready in a few months.

Interestingly, despite the growing family, they have chosen a boat with orientation for speed over comfort.

As mentioned previously, I disagree that this is the right boat for their growing family and many within the cruising community agree with my stance.

Key Takeaways

We can learn from Riley and Elayna that:

➔ Cruising isn’t always moonshine and sunsets

➔ Men and women play an equal role on board

➔ Much of the world is actually a safe place

➔ Raising children on sailboards is trending

➔ Always speak the truth, even when it’s hard

➔ You only live once, so make life happen

Conclusion

Riley and Elayna are authentic yet polished influencers of the sailing world. Some would say modern-day sea gypsies!

Fun fact: They even have their own Subreddit!

We see Riley and Elayna’s epic lifestyle today but we don’t see the consistent work over multiple years prior.

Getting here and finally living #boatlife certainly wasn’t an easy process, but through their commitment, but we can clearly see it’s been well worth it.

This is the definitive guide on Sailing Doodles for 2024.

Over the last 21 months, I have personally watched 44 hours worth of Sailing Doodles episodes as one of their biggest fans.

So I’m going to share with you:

➔ How Bobby afforded his boat

➔ How he makes his money today

➔ What boat he has and its upgrades

➔ Who all the beautiful women are (and how does he find them?!)

➔ How you can start crossing oceans

Sailing Doodles FAQs (2024)

Boat Name

S/V Doodles and S/V Nauti Dogs

Crew Members

Bobby White (age 42) from Dallas, TX

Is it just me…or does Bobby look like Zach Galifianakis from The Hangover?

Taylor Francis (age 30) was previously on Doodles and was once featured on SV Delos. She recently bought her own yacht which is a 1994 Catalina Morgan 38 called Mary M, with plans to sail to Mexico, so it’s unlikely she will return.

Bobby and Taylor from Sailing Doodles were never a couple. They remained as friends only, though may have had an off-camera relationship.

Laura (LaLa Libra) was on board as Bobby’s partner but after the breakup, she left and eventually married. She is now a mom with two girls of her own with her full name now being Laura Peters, while she used the name Laura Libra on Sailing Doodles.

I was able to find full names of ex-crew members including Megan Finley and Amanda Wojtas. Each was featured in past episodes yet none of which were married to Bobby, and have moved on.

Stephanie, Tess and Geraldine are the latest girls to join the boat in Asia, with much praise of loyal fans.

The Sailing Doodles dog, Maverick, unfortunately passed away in early February, 2020 due to cancer.

The Boat

Bobby previously owned a 50-foot Beneteau yacht but no longer sails. Instead, he owns a 1997 Hatteras 60 Motoryacht which he cruises on.

In Greece, he’s sailing on a different yacht. This is a 2021 Beneteau Oceanis 62 yacht that he’s sailing on for 2 weeks. Yes, he rented this boat.

Upgrades

Bobby has upgraded his electronics, gained a new dinghy and installed new solar panels.

However, his channel doesn’t focus on renovations. Instead, he choses to focus on the near-naked women featured as guests. And the dogs.

Location

Sailing Doodles are currently in Mexico.

Past Cruising

Bobby has sailed briefly in

➔ The United States

➔ The Bahamas

➔ The Caribbean

➔ Thailand and SE Asia

Unlike other channels, he prefers coastal cruising instead of circumnavigations.

They have recently arrived in Europe and aim to sail the Mediterranean.

Affording It

Bobby had some cashed saved up before buying his first sail boat for just $24,000 plus an additional $4,000 in upgrades.

He has owned an additional 2 boats since through wise investments and YouTube income.

He previously worked as a commercial pilot, and typically flew guests on private jets.

Net Worth

YouTubers are becoming wealthier by the day. I estimate right now that:

Here in 2024, Sailing Doodles has a net worth of $2,700,000 US dollars.

This is based on the value of Bobby’s boat, online business and stock portfolio.

Making Loot

YouTube pays surprisingly well!

Sailing Doodles makes $7,600 per month on YouTube.

This is earned from the following sources:

➔ Monthly Patreon subscriptions

➔ Ad-hoc donations via PayPal

➔ Various brand sponsorships such as Butcherbox and Babbel

➔ YouTube ads on their channel

➔ Paid crew members who join in the journey

➔ Sales of the Zero to Hero online sailing course

Collaborations

Sailing Doodles had previously featured Taylor’s Travels which was very favouable to the audience.

Laura (LaLa Libra) has also been on board for an extended time but Laura’s last name is unknown. Her name ‘Laura’ may be a pseudonym as many OnlyFans creators don’t use their real name.

MJ Sailing were also featured briefly in one episode.

Back in May 2022, they finally met up with S/V Delos!

Big Moments

The biggest moments in Sailing Doodles history are:

➔ Crashing his boats on the rocks

➔ Being boarded by the coastguard

➔ Getting kicked off an island

➔ And of course, many beautiful women on board

Sadly, Bobby lost his dad recently (R.I.P.) although his mum is still alive and has been featured in some episodes.

Future Plans

Sailing Doodles aims to continue cruising in the same grounds with more women on board.

He’s already back in the Carribean and editing his older videos ready for YouTube and Patreon.

Key Takeaways

While I’m not the biggest fan of Bobby’s approach, it’s clear that the clickbait (beautiful women in thumbnails) works to generate millions of views to his YouTube channel.

Similarly, there are thousands of searches on Google each month for nude/uncensored photos of Laura and Megan by middle-aged men late at night.

He remains largely unchallenged with his ‘Sailing Boobies’ approach, providing an opportunity for similar content creators needing more views.

It’s also evident that we don’t need to do a circumnavigation to have an epic time on the water.

Conclusion

Bobby from Sailing Doodles suffered a near-death experience and used that time to re-evaluate his life choices. From there, he started sailing and never looked back simply using the resources he had.

So instead of waiting for your own health-scare, perhaps now is the time to build your own freedom-based opportunity to go cruising.

Like that old saying goes “Build your water well before you need a drink”. 🙂

Create Your Own Cruising Freedom

Hey! 😃 it’s Joshua again…

I’ve been very inspired by Doodles and their travels…

Some say I’m obsessed, but sailing the world is my childhood dream.

They’re living the dream, but that dream isn’t actually that far away.

With this exciting opportunity, I’ll be able to:

➜ Generate a sustainable full-time income through learning basic skills

Lauren Landers FAQs (2024)

Boat Name

S/V Soul de La Mar

Crew Members

Lauren Landers (age 28)

Husband

Lauren Landers does NOT have a husband. She is commonly confused with another woman who has the exact same name, who married Beau Landers in Ohio.

Lauren Landers is preferably staying single, mainly due to her majority-male audience. Some of them live the “single women by herself” fantasy and she risks losing a percentage of her audience overnight if she found herself a boyfriend.

If she is in fact dating, it would be in secret.

The Boat

Lauren Landers has a 1993 Beneteau Oceanis 43.

Upgrades

She’s upgraded her boat with a new engine, a aindlass and bow thruster from MauriPro, plus she’s done some of her own boat work, including a new lithium battery installation.

Location

She’s living the dream in the Bahamas!

Wanna join her? Maybe you can! More details below.

Past Cruising

She has sailed in Puerto Rico and other tropic locations.

Affording It

Did Lauren have rich parents that bought her a yacht? Not really.

She just worked really hard over the past 5 years and without children or a boyfriend to worry about, she was able to save a small fortune.

She also skipped college to fulfill her dreams and not have to deal with her student loan debt.

Net Worth

Is she a millionaire? Not quite, but she’s around halfway there!

I estimate that:

As of 2024, Lauren Landers has a net worth of $670,000 USD. This is based on the value of her yacht and her business.

She’s definitely doing better than most North Americans. 😁

Making Loot

I estimate that Lauren Landers makes $7,000 USD per month through her popular YouTube channel.

That’s certainly enough for her to live her dream life on the ocean! 😃

How does she do this? Well, it’s through multiple streams.

These include:

➜ Brand sponsorship deals and affiliate links

➜ Earnings from Patreon subscribers

➜ Ads that play on her YouTube videos

➜ Sales of her official Soul de La Mar merchandise

She also makes money through charter bookings, but these certainly aren’t cheap. You CAN become a guest on her boat if you choose.

Collaborations

I haven’t seen her collab with other YouTubers, but she’s had some of her fellow single female friends on board too.

Big Moments

Lauren has dealt with some squalls, bee stings, sharks and sailing by herself.

Future Plans

Is she planning to find the right guy and settle down? Absolutely not. She’s enjoying the content creation game on YouTube and building her charter business and online following. She knows exactly what she’s doing…

Key Takeaways

What can we learn?

➜ The ocean isn’t a scary place

➜ Open your mind to opportunities

➜ Staying single = true freedom

➜ You still have to work hard for your dreams

And of course, remain humble.

Conclusion

I think Lauren is an alternative version of Lazy Gecko, Wind Hippie Sailing and Sailing Holly Blue. She does very well for herself!

Create Your Own Cruising Freedom

Hey! 😃 it’s Joshua again…

Lauren Landers isn’t a channel that I follow closely, but I do love sailing!

Affording It

Josh doesn’t come from rich parents and was able to afford his epic lifestyle through hard work.

This is based on the value of their boat, 4×4 and online business.

Collaborations

Apart from his beautiful girlfriend, I haven’t seen him collab with any other fishing channels.

Big Moments

His best video racked up over a million views:

There is no surprise why… 🤩

Future Plans

Where to next? They might explore the world but first, they want to do a ton of fishing in their own backyard.

Key Takeaways

What can we learn from this legend?

➜ Keep your videos as simple as possible

➜ Be willing to go beyond your comfort zone

➜ There is plenty to explore within Australia

➜ Find a gorgeous lass to join you on the journey

And of course, be yourself on YouTube.

Conclusion

I have come to enjoy Josh’s videos a ton and can’t wait to see how his channel evolves over time.

Bass Fishing Productions: Net Worth, Girlfriend and Is It Fake? (2024)

Everything You Always Wanted To Know

Joshua Smith

Founder and Editor at Cruising Freedom

This is the definitive guide to Bass Fishing Productions for 2024.

Bobby is truly a legend and so I wanted to create this insightful piece!

You’re about to discover:

➜ If Bass Fishing Productions has been faking it

➜ What his net worth actually is

➜ Who is girlfriend should be

➜ How old bobby actually is

➜ His favorite fishing locations

Before I get into this, a quick introduction from me…

The Cruising Freedom Author

Ahoy, Matey! I’m Joshua from Australia.

I’ve built the perfect business to sail the world.

A business model which can allow me to:

➜ Own a catamaran debt-free

➜ Go for weeks without WIFI

➜ Create semi-passive income

➜ Inspire others to dream big

But more on that later… 🙂

Bass Fishing Productions FAQs (2024)

Cast Members

Bobby Botsford

Bobby from Bass Fishing Productions is 24 years old.

Girlfriend

Bobby is currently single.

He was dating Helen previously but they broke things off.

Fishing Spots

Bass Fishing Productions remains super secretive about their favorite fishing locations!

He doesn’t want 10,000+ fans to be hanging in the same spot!

Controversy

Bass Fishing Productions has come under intense social media controversy for their fake ‘pet store dumpster rescue’ stunts.

While viewers believe that Bobby and his crew are rescuing thrown-out fish, it appears that Bobby previously bought these to stage a ‘rescue’ and essentially faking the whole thing.

These staged ‘rescues’ ultimately go viral, earning Bobby a ton of clicks, views and ultimately revenue from YouTube.

And his loyal fans believe the stunt 100%!

It’s an incredible strategy…until you’re busted for it!

His YouTube thumbnails often look a bit fake too.

Affording It

How does Bobby afford to live an epic lifestyle? He used to have a job that he hated and did YouTube on the side.

Once he did enough stunts, he then went full-time and the rest is history!

Net Worth

Now today, you’ll be shocked by how well he’s done for himself!

As of 2024, Bobby of Bass Fishing Productions has a net worth of $1,200,000 USD.

This is based upon the value of his home, truck, boat, fishing equipment, camera equipment and online business.

So he’s already a millionaire and well on the way to retirement. He just hasn’t been upfront about this to his audience, just like some other things!

Making Loot

How does he make a fortune on with his videos?

Two words: YouTube ads

His engaged audience typically watches many videos, making Bobby around $9,500 per month.

And my friend, that’s how you make a 6-figure income on YouTube with fishing videos!

Collaborations

He’s hung out with a ton of other fishing YouTubers for collabs in recent years.

Big Moments

His best moments are saving fish and other aquatic animals from suffocation, while his worst moments have been the staged videos.

Future Plans

What’s he gonna do next? Probably mature and monetize his channel much better I hope!

Key Takeaways

What can we learn from him?

➜ Create epic content

➜ Build trust with your audience

➜ Don’t stage a video

➜ Be yourself on camera

And stay humble, even if you become a millionaire like Bobby.

Conclusion

I’m certainly no hater of Bobby. He’s worked incredibly hard for his success and freedom as a fishing and aquatic creator. I just hope he does better in future years!

Back 2 Basics Adventures: Net Worth, Earnings and Fran’s Nationality (2024)

Everything You Always Wanted To Know

Joshua Smith

Founder and Editor at Cruising Freedom

This is the definitive guide on Back 2 Basics Adventures for 2024.

Over the last several years, I have spent many hours watching and researching everything I could about Jack, Az and Fran to learn more about their story.

(Yes, I really am *that* obsessed with my fellow Aussie YouTube creators 😃)

In this article, I’ll be covering:

➜ How Back 2 Basics Adventures afforded their boat

➜ How they make their money through YouTube

➜ What boat do they have and its upgrades

➜ Who is Fran and does she have uncensored content

➜ If Strick and Fran are still together

➜ How you can start living on boats just like them

So you’re in the right place.

Now before we start, a quick intro from me…

The Cruising Freedom Author

Ahoy, Matey! I’m Joshua from Australia.

I’ve built the perfect business to sail the world.

A business model which can allow me to:

➜ Own a catamaran debt-free

➜ Go for weeks without WIFI

➜ Create semi-passive income

➜ Inspire others to dream big

But more on that later… 🙂

Back 2 Basics Adventures FAQs (2024)

Boat Name

There is no official name for their boat, but they call it the Salty Dingo. This is because of how often they use it and the rough conditions they put it through.

They almost lost their trusty Salty Dingo boat recently in Cyclone Lucas off the Western Australia coast.

Their friends have a small trailerable sailing catamaran called S/V Tiki.

Crew Members

Jack Strickland (age 35) from Queensland, Australia.

Aaron ‘Az’ Gallagher (age 34) from Queensland, Australia.

Tom Strickland (age 36) is also in on some adventures.

But let’s forget about the boys for a minute because Fran is clearly the most popular addition to the Back 2 Basics Adventures YouTube channel and has blown up the views and subscribers.

Strick and Fran

On the 19th of June, 2022, Strick and Fran formed their own channel away from the Back 2 Basics Adventures main channel, calling it B2B Castaways (Strick and Fran) as it was just themselves.

Naturally, the channel become incredibly popular immediately as they brought their audience over from Back 2 Basics Adventures. It doesn’t feature AZ or Tom.

Now, you’re probably keen to find out more about Fran…

Fran’s full name is Francesca Pusceddu and she is 35 years old. She is an avid surfer with a love for spearfishing and snowboarding. Fran’s nationality is half Maltese and half Italian.

I’ve had multiple guys asking me if Fran has an OnlyFans account. The answer is a simple no. She doesn’t offer uncut footage so please stop asking. 👍

They continue to follow a Catch and Cook philosophy while enjoying sailing, kayaking and exploring new frontiers.

And the best news?

Strick and Fran are still together! The reason you don’t see them on Back 2 Basic Adventures is that they now have their own channel. Occasionally, Strick might do a video by himself on there but not Fran.

There was a conspiracy theory that they had separated, but this isn’t the case. I do think Strick will propose to Fran at some stage this year!

The Boat

Back 2 Basics Adventures own a 1995 Haines Hunter V17 fishing boat with registration number PZ338Q.

Sometimes they also use a Sportsman 19ft Riflebird.

Upgrades

They have kitted their main boat out with dive tanks, fish finders, AIS, EPIRB and Chartplotter.

Location

Back 2 Basics Adventures are from Port Douglas, Queensland, Australia.

They have also spent a considerable amount of time in Cooktown, Weipa, Cape York, Torres Strait as well as the Whitsunday Region on the Great Barrier Reef.

Similarities with their channel can be made between them and YBS Youngbloods from Exmouth, Western Australia.

Past Cruising

They have so far explored in Australia, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Indonesia.

Affording It

The boys didn’t come from rich parents but simply worked hard as tradies for multiple years, saved up enough cash and then started YouTube several years ago.

It was only their 2nd video that ABSOLUTELY blew up online:

Crazy: 33 seconds with 21 million views!

Their infectious nature, ethics for the ocean and sheer authenticity won the hearts of many viewers from around the world, not just in Australia.

They have been able to capitalize on their vast viewership and purchase their recent boat for cash.

Net Worth

Some YouTubers have definitely become millionaires.

As of 2024, Back 2 Basics Adventures are worth a staggering $2,700,000 Australian dollars, or approximately $1,900,000 US dollars.

This is based on their boat’s value, their online business and the strong influence they have in the marine market globally.

As YouTube influencers, they have been offered many free products including fishing equipment and even expensive boats given their large audience on social media.

Making Loot

So then, how do they actually make money on YouTube? I’ve done the research and here’s exactly how they do it…

➜ They sell their own B2B Adventures merchandise

➜ They run their own Patreon account

➜ They also allow ads on their YouTube channel

With this in mind, it’s estimated that the guys from Back 2 Basics Adventures are making $12,700/month on their YouTube channel. Pretty impressive hey?

They don’t accept sponsorships at this stage but are seeking to launch their own range of fishing equipment through their online store.

Collaborations

They have made multiple collabs with other YouTube creators in recent times, and the most notable was the recent video with Sailing La Vagabonde. Many similarities can be made between both channels.

Another channel that has strong similarities is Sailing Nandji. I look forward to seeing a collab with them too!

Big Moments

While they’re bloody fun to watch, they have had some interesting experiences such as:

➜ Breaking their motorboat while towing

➜ Almost hitting their EPIRB and getting rescued

➜ Having a scary encounter while camping on a remote sand strip at night (were they pirates or just Indonesian fishermen?)

➜ Getting fish hooks caught in body parts (ouch!)

But fortunately, they have kept smiling through most of this! But there was this one near-death incident in 2013.

It was Jack’s best mate Az who blacked out while free diving that was the worst experience:

There are many lessons worth learning from that incident. I’m glad that Az is OK and that Jack made the documentary for all of us to learn.

Future Plans

Where to next? With Australia’s borders now fully open, we can expect to see them exploring further afield. Will buy purchase their own sailboat? More than likely!

Even better, I believe one of the major manufacturers will probably sponsor them based on how engaging their videos are!

Edit: My prediction was correct! They just got sponsored by Genesis. 🤩 They definitely deserve every bit of success.

Key Takeaways

What can we learn from the boys?

➜ Create epic content for YouTube

➜ Tell a real story worth sharing

➜ You don’t need an expensive boat

➜ Be willing to take risks for the rewards

And of course, find a beautiful mermaid just like Fran. We all have to agree that she is absolutely gorgeous! 😍

Conclusion

Jack and Az are legends in Australia, paving the way for many of us to explore our own backyards in the pursuit of fun, freedom and fulfillment.

They remind us every that that life is too short.

So what are you waiting for?

Put down your smartphone.

Open the front door.

Pack the car.

It’s time to get out there and explore!
