Everything You Always Wanted To Know

Joshua Smith

Founder and Editor at Cruising Freedom

This is the definitive guide on Project Atticus for 2023.

Over the last 3 years, I have spent so many hours watching and researching everything I could about Project Atticus to learn more about their story.

(Yes, I really am *that* obsessed with Project Atticus 😃)

If you wanted to know:

➜ How Project Atticus afforded their boat

➜ Their income streams and net worth

➜ What boat do they have and its upgrades

➜ Ways you can build assets like them

Then you’ve definitely come to the right place.

Before we start, a quick introduction from me…

The Cruising Freedom Author

Ahoy, Matey! I’m Joshua from Australia.

I’ve built the perfect business to sail the world.

A business model which can allow me to:

➜ Own a catamaran debt-free

➜ Go for weeks without WIFI

➜ Create semi-passive income

➜ Inspire others to dream big

But more on that later… 🙂

Project Atticus FAQs (April 2023)

Boat Name

S/V Atticus II

Crew Members

Jordan Wicht (age 35)

Desiree Wicht (age 34)

They met through being crew members on superyachts

Captain Oso also joins their crew.

There will be an additional crew member joining in 2022. Yes, Jordan and Desiree are having a baby!

The Boat

Project Atticus has a 1964 Allied Seawind 30 (FL 4787 NK) which was Atticus I, plus a 1997 Pacific Seacraft 40 which became Atticus II.

Upgrades

This boat had an extensive refit including lithium batteries, new sails and new solar.

Location

They are currently in The Azores before they head for the Med:

Past Cruising

They have sailed through the United States and the Mediterranean.

Who knows what will happen now that Desiree is pregnant. More than likely (as many other YouTubers do) they’ll have 3 to 6 months off, batch some videos up and then resume sailing again.

Affording It

Both Jordan and Desiree worked hard on superyachts and were able to keep their expenses very low.

Through personal savings, they were able to purchase both their boats for cash, without any need for bank loans.

Net Worth

YouTubers are often doing well for themselves as content creators.

Today in 2023, after years of work, Project Atticus is worth $510,000.

This estimation is based on their boat’s value and personal savings.

Making Loot

Previously, they had to fly away from their boat to freelance on other boats as crew, but today, they have mastered the art of online income streams.

These include:

➜ Affiliate links to yachting gear

➜ Running their own Patreon account

➜ Numerous brand sponsorships

➜ Allowing ads on their channel

They treat YouTube content creation as a serious business which makes them around $5,700/month. Remarkable!

Collaborations

Despite the remarkably large size of their YouTube channel, I haven’t seen them sailing with anyone else.

They have met up with various other YouTubers at the Miami Boat show. This included David Shih, Beau and Brandy Sailing, Odd Life Crafting and Sailing Sweet Ruca.

I think a collab between them and Kristina’s travels could work well.

Big Moments

Some notable experiences in Atticus’ journey include:

➜ Almost being boarded by pirates in Nicaraguan Banks.

➜ Being approached by strangers while sailing

➜ Going through multiple cabin-fever experiences

Fortunately, nothing really that bad has happened to them.

Future Plans

Where to next? Now that the boat is ready to sail, they’re planning to see the entire world!

Key Takeaways

What can we learn from this ambitious couple?

➜ Do it all while you’re young

➜ Be willing to make mistakes

➜ Learn to do your own boat work

➜ Harness the power of the internet

And of course, find a supportive spouse to join you! 🤩

Conclusion

Clearly, Jordan and Desiree have captivated the hearts of many, including myself. Their projects are ambitious but they’re willing to get the job done for their dream.

Now my question to you – are you prepared to put in the work…
